The original ADOT team was replaced by staff and consultants whose training included respect for context sensitive design.
"My vision," said the new project manager, "is a very intensive and upfront process, getting the public involved to look at needs [and] develop alternatives to address them."
[Now] we won't have a highway that encourages big box stores and parking lots. We'll have a road that will encourage people to drive slowly enough to see the small businesses along the route.
