JANET SABINA is a fifteen-year resident of the small town in northern Arizona where her book is set. Connected by marriage and friendship to the local activists whose story she tells, Janet had complete access to the records, strategies and emotional rollercoaster of their effort.

Janet and her husband Bill have three grown sons including one in the traffic study business who translated jargon and offered invaluable advice during the savvy campaign that is the subject of her book.
